Kiawah Island is a popular beach and golf destination so we recommend that you book accommodations early. Below you will find information regarding the island, where to stay and how to get around, and we encourage you to read through all of it thoroughly since Kiawah is such a unique location.

Charleston International Airport (CHS) is the closest airport and where you will want to book your flight. Kiawah Island is a 45 minute to 1 hour drive from the airport. Uber and Lyft services are able to get on the island, but Uber and Lyft services are not available once on Kiawah Island.

Rideshare:

Ubers and Lyfts are not available on the Island so we do not recommend relying on this as a transportation option.

Car Rental:

Car rentals are available at the Charleston airport. We recommend this option for flexibility or if you are not staying at a Kiawah Island Golf Resort accommodation with access to the on island shuttle. Sharing transportation with friends or family is a great option. There are a number of rental options available at the airport including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. Transportation to Kiawah if not renting a car:

If not renting a car, the best way to travel to and from the Charleston airport and Kiawah Island will be to book a car service in advance of your stay. Here are a few of the companies:

The On Island Shuttle:

Once on the island, guests have access to the complimentary Kiawah Island shuttles if staying at a Kiawah Island Golf Resort accommodation (villa and home rentals through KIGR or the Sanctuary), which can take you to any resort restaurant or amenity across the island. Call extension 82900 and the shuttle will pick you up within 30 minutes of your call (noting pick up can take longer during busy weekend times). The shuttle only runs during specified hours.

Wedding day transportation:

Transportation will be provided to and from the River Course on October 25. The pickup schedule is dependent on where guests are staying so be sure to fill in your accommodations information when you complete the wedding invitation reply card and check back here closer to the wedding date for the full schedule! Return trips will be provided throughout the evening as needed, with final departure at the conclusion of the reception.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort Villa + Home Rentals

Booking hotel rooms, villas, and houses through the Kiawah Island Golf Resort come with great perks including complimentary shuttle service to resort venues around the island, access to resort pools, discounts and preferred reservations for golf and tennis, and preferred dining and spa reservations. If availability is low or these perks are not important to you, there are many other housing options through other rental websites.

The Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers a wide range of rental opportunities for villas (one to three bedroom) or homes (up to eight bedrooms). The discount will be factored in once confirmed by the resort team.

We believe the most affordable and fun housing option is to share a villa or home with a group. We recommend booking on the east/northeast side of the island off Governor’s drive or heart Turtle Point, as this area is central to the wedding activities, golf courses, and beach access. Just a reminder that these properties will not be affiliated with KIGR and therefore will not come with the perks and amenities outlined above when booking a home or villa with KIGR or a room at the Sanctuary.
